After recovering Rebecca from prehistory, Sebastian, Rebecca, and the Herald return to more contemporary times. Earth is in the middle of a heated war against an oppressive alien race that few people know and less people care about. They learn that, if they hadn’t defeated the Ventrisee on the moon, this war would never have started.
Captured as spies, Sebastian quickly learns who the real enemy is.
Even with weapons of endless fortitude and unbound determination, the humans are not equipped to win this war. The aliens have access to vast battle fleets and it’s only a matter of time before they launch a decisive all-out attack.
Sebastian knows that help from a space station of the future could help staunch the impending attack, but only if he can move it closer to Earth’s space without impacting on the timeline.
Meanwhile, left on Earth, a powerless Rebecca encounters several isolated factions determined to survive the war in their own unique ways. She finds her own salvation in the guise of a young girl and, on the eve of a battle destined to determine the fate of Earth, she learns that there’s a traitor in their midst and is shocked to discover who was really responsible for the Snowball Effect.
Clipped Wings is the third instalment of The Snowball Effect trilogy and the sequel to Temporal Crashdown.
