Unlike yesterday’s struggle to hit target, today I exceeded 5,000 words for the first time this month. I’m now well over 10,000 words in front and I could complete the 50,000 as soon as tomorrow.
Today consisted of two scenes – one involving plot progression on the rebellion, and the other was one that I didn’t see coming.
The trouble with letting characters tell their story in their own way is that, sometimes, they’ll surprise you. They know their character better than the author does. I didn’t know that this character was destined to travel this path when I introduced her in the previous book and, if anyone had told me in advance, I’d have said “no way!”. But, on reflection, it makes perfect sense. Sometimes, just sometimes, characters aren’t so stupid when they come up with these off-the-wall ideas.
