I’ve crossed the 50,000 word line.
These last few days have been hectic. Life does that sometimes. I’ve only been able to write in very small chunks at the end of the day, just barely squeezing out my daily target.
I wasn’t expecting expecting to cross the line tonight. I did my daily target and thought I’d end there, but you get so near to the end goal that you just don’t want to give up. I had to cross that line – even if it meant sacrificing some desperately-needed sleep.
And, a few moments ago, I crossed the line. Only by 19 words, but that’s enough.
How did I do it? By having two exciting scenes – one with action, the other with character interaction.
Now that I have 50,000 words written, do I have a story? No, unfortunately not. I have a bunch of scenes and characters desperately looking for a story. There are several plot threads floundering about, hoping that they’ll hook something that resembles a story, but no luck yet. I’ll push on to the end of the month and maybe something will come of all these words…
Day 22, word count: 50,019, target: 36,667, words remaining: -19.
I’ve just realised that I’ve written almost 20,000 words in just nine days. And I thought I wasn’t writing much due to lack of time… How odd.
