Day 25, word count: 65,688, target: 41,667
Since hitting 50,000 words on the 17th, I’ve been determined to continue writing every day of November – my goal here is to hit at least the minimum NaNoWriMo target of 1,667 words every day until the end of the month. Purpose? To get green squares on every day of my NaNoWriMo calendar. Petty? Oh yes, but whatever it takes to get the words on the paper, right?
Eight days later and my 50,000 word count has increased to over 65,000. I don’t think I’m likely to achieve any massive figure this year, but I should at least get a good chunk of words down.
The story has been difficult for most of the last eight days. Since finishing Mindy’s solo story, I’ve moved over to Sebastian’s story. This one has been through the rollercoaster and is currently going through the wringer. I’ve mostly just been putting words down in the hope that this part of the story will reveal itself, and it only did that last night. Now I know what part it plays in the overall story, there’s a good number of words that’ll need changing. The main plot threads of this part will remain largely unchanged, but I introduced a lot of action and extra characters that really play no real part in the story.
Mostly, this story has turned from an action adventure into a spooky adventure – mainly so that I don’t end up copying Mindy’s story towards the end. This part also digs a little deeper into Sebastian’s background, something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time, with the help of newcomer Alice.
While I do know where this part of the story needs to go now, I need to work out what Alice’s part in the overall story is. I’m thinking, perhaps, that … no, to blog about that would involve too many spoilers. I’ll just keep going and see where the story takes her.
