2.03 The Hound of the Baskervilles, cont’d

THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES

I finished Big Finish‘s adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles, plus the interview extras, last night.

It’s pretty clear that Sherlock Holmes is a labour of love for these guys, particularly Nicholas Briggs.  Being producer, director, and title star could plunge the series into a “god complex” scenario but, here, that doesn’t happen.  It’s clear that Nick Briggs is intent on making a series of adventures of which Conan Doyle would be proud.

The Hound of the Baskervilles is a fairly faithful retelling of the original story, with very little changed/omitted.  If you want a solid audio version of The Hound of the Baskervilles, this would be a good choice.

A number of the other adventures in Big Finish‘s series do deviate from Conan Doyle’s originals – such as Holmes facing Jack the Ripper and Dracula – but, based on what I’ve heard so far, I think we’re in safe hands.
