Previously … Planet of Giants …
The Doctor and Susan climb through a plughole, Barbara faints at the sight of a fly, and Ian opens a briefcase.
Some of the sets/props are fantastic (the plug & plughole, the briefcase, etc), while others are less successful (the rack of testtubes).
Planet of Giants is proving to be a adventurous exercise into the fantasy world of little people in the world of giants. In that, it succeeds.
The story is perhaps less successful. The murder & insecticide plot doesn’t really involve the regular TARDIS crew, and they really just spend their time going from set-piece to set-piece as if to say “aren’t our set designers and prop makers great?”
The cliffhanger of the Doctor and Susan being flushed down the plughole is quite amusing.
Next time … Crisis
