72. Flight Through Eternity

FlightThroughEternity6Doctor Who, season 2 continued …

More silly music leads us into the Doctor realising that they’re being followed through the timestream by the Daleks.

We see inside the Daleks’ time machine, and are introduced to some comedy Daleks – the one that hesitates while replying to one of the others.

The TARDIS lands at the scene of comedy American voices – at least one of which is so woeful that it distracts from the drama of the episode, but it does allow for a contrast to the jeopardy of the TARDIS crew.

FlightThroughEternity5We do get to see a bonkers, albeit oddly charming, portrayal of Peter Purves’ tourist.

Back on board the TARDIS, it becomes clear that the Daleks are catching up.  Before the Doctor can prepare, the TARDIS rematerialises on-board the “Mary Celeste” for a few comedy moments at Ian’s expense before the Daleks turn up and cause everyone to abandon the ship to answer the age-old mystery.

Still, the sets are quite nice, especially the ship.

FlightThroughEternity3The Doctor determines that the Daleks are now closer than ever, and the chase is on.

Seems odd to think that we’re three episodes/half-way into this serial and actually nothing has actually happened, yet it’s not been slow or plodding as some other adventures have been.
