66. The Space Museum

TheSpaceMuseum3Doctor Who, season 2 continued …

This opening episode is intriguing but, having seen it before, it doesn’t really have much rewatch value.  The strange things that happen aren’t given any even vaguely logical explanation – just slipping a groove in time, and the Doctor not being sure about the 4th dimension.  Just enough technobabble to keep it out of the realms of “timey wimey” but no real explanation for any of it.  Just how did the TARDIS crew’s clothes change?

Ultimately, and this is an issue with watching the story in hindsight, episode one is little more than a week of padding.  The strangeness of what’s happening isn’t adequately explained, it doesn’t further the plot (they don’t overhear conversations or witness actions that will assist them later) and, other than the occasional “I wonder if this decision will lead to us being exhibits” bit of pseudo-drama, the adventure could have done without this episode entirely.
