Doctor Who, season 3 continues …
This final episode of is the CGI animated version created by Who Recons, with fairly poor audio.
The episode ends fairly predictably, without us ever knowing enough about either the Drahvins or the Rills to get an handle on what they’re about. The TARDIS crew get to see what a Rill really looks like (but we don’t – I don’t know if we did in the original live action version).
The Rills leave, the Doctor & co leaves, the Drahvins don’t. Adventure over.
The cliffhanger leads into the next episode with Vicki making a casual comment on a planet the TARDIS is passing.
Galaxy 4 is an example of “be careful what you wish for”. For my whole Doctor Who life, I’ve wanted to see this adventure because of its intriguing title. Now that I have, I’m left with a feeling of “is that it?” It’s hard to imagine it got commissioned. Based on the one remaining live-action, this was clearly a “cheapy story”. Normally that isn’t an issue because the script makes up for it. Not in this case, sadly.
Definitely one on the “don’t need to watch” list.
Next time … Mission to the Unknown
