Doctor Who, season 3 continues …
I watched the first two episodes of the CGI’d The Myth Makers, but I have to admit to another case of disappointment. Again, a story I’d always wanted to watch (because of the title and the setting), but it’s not doing a lot for me at all.
The CGI animation is better than it was in Galaxy 4, largely because there’s more going on, and the fight sequence at the beginning with swords was watchable if not totally gripping.
The story is less successful, though. It comes across as little more than a lot of bickering between people who believe they’re better fighters/warriors than they are. All ego, no substance.
It was amusing for a short time to have the Doctor being taken for a god, but that didn’t last long and would have worked much better if it was Hartnell on the screen rather than an unflinching, unemotional CGI man.
Sadly, I’ve resorted to having this one on in the background while doing other things.
Next time … Death of a Spy
