UNIT : The Coup

UNIT: The Coup

In UNIT : The Coup, the first of Big Finish‘s UNIT adventures, Lethbridge-Stewart is wheeled out to be the public face of UNIT during a time of transition.  The UK branch of UNIT is ceding authority to a new organisation (given recent events in the news, the unfortunately-titled ISIS).

As Lethbridge-Stewart prepares his speech and is transported to the press conference, an incident at London Bridge causes a spot of bother for the new organisation.  The Silurians are attacking, and one has its sights set firmly on the man responsible for blowing up its people some 30 years ago…

UNIT: The Coup, from 2004, was Big Finish‘s first UNIT adventure.  It doesn’t feature the Doctor (as none of the “first series” of UNIT adventures do) and is more of a showcase for Lethbridge-Stewart and UNIT.

The production is full-cast and it gets a little chaotic at times as the scene shifts from Lethbridge-Stewart to the events on London Bridge and other scenes, but it all comes together quite well by the end.

UNIT: The Coup lasts for approximately 25 minutes and is priced at … well, free, really.  This one really is a no-brainer and should be part of everyone’s audio collection.   What have you got to lose – 25 minutes?
