The final episode eventually reveals the Master’s real plan. It’s a typical over-complicated plan with the necessary apocalyptic consequences to resolve a relatively minor problem. Very Master-like. And the Doctor solves all the problems in a typical non-apocalyptic sideways look at the danger.
In all, this has been a great adventure and is how Doctor Who should be done. It has the feel of a classic 4-part adventure. It brings back two classic Doctor Who enemies. The apocalyptic nature of the Master’s plan is good without being an overblown “epic event” as it would be on nooWHO.
This story ends the first series of 4th Doctor audio adventures from Big Finish. The series started a little unsteadily, and had a very poor Boudica story, before starting to get into its stride, and finishing with a great two-CD four-episode classic adventure.
I’d definitely recommend this one.
