4DA1.02 The Renaissance Man, cont’d

THE RENAISSANCE MAN

Most of the story to The Renaissance Man happens in episode one, leaving the second episode to flounder a little.

The cliffhanger of the Doctor and Leela being framed for murder goes nowhere and is dropped immediately, leaving space for some running down corridors, before the Doctor reveals that he’d already started the downfall of the villain some time earlier.

If it had been a TV story of 4-episodes, there’s no doubt that more would have been made of the different environments in the museum (not too dissimilar to the change of environments in Land of the Dead) and the Doctor being framed for murder.

Nevertheless, Leela is given the opportunity to be the “savage” whenever possible and the Doctor uses his mind rather than magic tricks to resolve the issue.

A slight improvement on Destination Nerva, but not a “must-listen” audio.

The second episode is followed by some behind-the-scenes talk as before.
